Extremely Disappointed Long-Term Optus Customer

I have been a loyal Optus customer for many years and have trusted them as my only mobile provider. On September 14th, I eagerly pre-ordered the new iPhone 16, expecting a seamless experience. The order was processed on September 20th, and I was told it was ready for shipping. But what followed was a frustrating, month-long ordeal.

Despite numerous calls and countless messages to Optus support, I was repeatedly told the device was out of stock, with no timeline on when it would be available. Each conversation left me without answers, only to be told, “we’ll update you eventually.”

Finally, on October 23rd—over a month later—I demanded a clear resolution. I was shocked when the representative informed me that my device had supposedly been delivered on September 20th. When I explained I hadn’t received it, I was accused of already having the phone and not being honest about it. This accusation was not only offensive but deeply hurtful, especially considering my years of loyalty to Optus.

After further investigation, the representative found that my phone had been sitting at the post office for over a month, unclaimed, with no notice from either Optus or Australia Post. I was left without a single apology or offer of compensation for the accusations and wasted time.

Optus’s lack of accountability, failure to communicate accurately, and inability to manage their service left me feeling disrespected and disappointed. This experience has seriously damaged my trust in Optus, and I hope they will take steps to improve their customer service and communication to prevent this from happening to others.

I’ve been an Optus customer for a few years, and usually never have a problem with the customer service.
I went in today to talk about options with a SIM card plans, and was rudely dismissed by the sales consultant.

I don’t want to sound like a Karen but my gosh I was so surprised with the customer service today ….

The worker was asking very personal questions about our why we needed this services done, which felt very unprofessional and unnecessary.

The worker was really condescending with her words, going as far as to pull judgmental faces at us while we’re talking to her. made us feel very upset with our experience today.

Gonna be honest, I have no idea what Hayley is on about. Absolutely brilliant service. The way I was spoken to by Jade was wonderful. I completely understand why she and everyone there is employed. She was respectful, knowledgeable, and helped answer any questions I had about my plan without making me feel stupid. I would encourage the staff here to keep doing what you are doing, because you're all helpful, intelligent human beings with a great sense of humour. Keep it up guys.
