Went back to see the observatory after a number of years nothing's changed. Except this time the visitor centre was closed so we only got to have a look at the gallery in the big telescope. Still amazing but one hint if you're going up in winter, take a thick jacket because the weather can change quite quickly.

I went there this October long weekend during the Star Fest, when it's open to the public. Very educational and interesting about our understanding of the universe.

Amazing tour by an incredible astronomer!! Highly recommend a daytime tour with a walk around the outside of the observatory, breathtaking views of the Warrumbungles

A great place to visit, the viewing area of the telescope is awesome, a great visitor area as well with a heat deal of information on the telescope and surrounds.

Well worth the stop. Don't do the tour. Check for tour times before you get there. It's recommended not to tow trailers or vans up there. There's a place to unhitch at the turn off. Very interesting stuff

We visited while the cafe and main visitor centre was closed - but that turned out fine as there was nobody there! And we still got to see the AA telescope itself in the visitors gallery and look at the exhibits in there. Just follow the path upwards and anyone can just walk in and take the elevator up. Nice views too.
Good to see accessible toilets there, and there is a ramp all the way up to the AAT, although it may be steep for some wheelchair users without assistance.
Also we loved the scale model of the solar system around the area too! The inner planets are all on the drive up to the observatory

Great place for a quick visit. I took a teen and two toddlers and there was enough to keep us all occupied for a good 45 minutes, plus a nice cafe with decent hot chips. I loved the trip up the tower to see the actual telescope!
