Great tourist experience for us to witness the auctions that take place on Wednesdays now. CQLX staff and auction regulars were lovely and shared lots of information. We've learned a lot and can only recommend visiting.

Really worth visiting on an auction day ( Monday - Friday 9am - 11 am - better look it up on the website again).
The Arena is used to sell single male Cattles. Normally they use the area behind the Arena. So when the Arena is empty have a look behind it 😉
People there are very friendly and explain you everything about selling and buying a Cattle! 😀

It was something I just wanted to - visit these famous sale yards and take photos of cattle. It is often hard to take photos of cattle on properties as they often run away from the camera, and I thought penned up it might be easier to capture some images. It is FREE to visit, and they have big sales on Fridays so we set off from Rockhampton and arrived to see the action of the auction. One poor skinny cow sold for $20!!

It is smelly, dusty, but most interesting to see the action. I'd go again. It was great. I think also it is a great place to take children to see one aspect of their food production.

The pride of Rockhampton. Well set out and a hive of activity on Fridays which are sale days. There is a kiosk with basic food ready to go, but also a large kitchen. Not all areas are accessible to people with limited mobility.
