I was given a design task for a job interview that clearly exceeded the standard 2-hour limit, after which compensation is typically required. The project ended up taking me around 7.5 hours, during which I designed a 3-panel oversized booth and created two LinkedIn posts. Additionally, I had to familiarize myself with their brand guidelines, edit images accordingly, and voluntarily prepared a presentation of over 10 pages.

The issue arose when they requested the working files. Despite explaining that it’s not standard practice to provide these, I eventually complied. After the interview, I tried to follow up but was ignored from Friday at 11:30 AM until Tuesday at 10:30 AM. In the end, I wasn’t offered the job, with no clear explanation provided.

I’m sharing my experience in hopes that it helps others, and I have all the documents to support my claim.
