We turned up to a home open to find nobody there. I had driven an hour with the kids in the car, in the evening, to a fairly remote location. I couldnt get hold of the real estate agent and, after leaving a message on her voicemail, she didnt even have the decency to call me back to explain or apologise. Beyond unprofessional. Where to start? We are a professional couple who have sold on the Sunshine Coast and are looking at purchasing in Tassie. We have come down with a short list of properties we wish to go through over the month we are here so we can find our perfect home.
We contacted 5 different real estate agents and have had wonderful interactions. But Harcourt's and in particular our experience with the plumber/real estate worker (I wouldn't call him anyones 'agent') was horrific!
He was disinterested, he gave private health details about his client (the seller), disclosed employment details of the sellers and even where they have relocated to, made derogatory remarks about the elderly mother who would frequent the property and even spoke about how complicated the sellers were to deal with adding that is why the property has been for sale for so long... absolutely unprofessional conduct.
The home was lovely, in the $2.2 million range and we will be cash buyers, the outlook was perfect, a blank canvas in the yard which we are more than happy to create our own dream garden in, it was unkept and lacking maintenance but we understood as it had been neglected for 3 years after the owners moved to the mainland and we are more than happy to work with any owners.
We were immediately taken aback by his lack of personality and ability to carry out the role of his clients agent, we were also devastated for the owners, we would be horrified to have someone like this representing us. In his rude manner he instructed us he would now show us around the rest of the property but feeling utterly repulsed we informed him we would not be interested in pursuing our dealings with him and we left.
We were then blessed with our next inspection near Launceston when we spent the most wonderful hour with a fantastic real estate agent who restored our faith in Tasmanian Agents.

Lesson for J; never assume anything, you never know when the easy sale walks through your door if you don't pay everyone the respect they deserve as potential customers.

I'd give minus 5 stars if I could.
Possibly the worst time of my life as a renter through these scammers. Lied constantly, tried to bully us and tell us who can come to the house, refused to clean up and do repairs. My family is just getting over the trauma. Its shocking, who would think a real estate would be so nasty, vindictive and spiteful? Correspondence from them and disgusting property photos available on request.
