Travelled from Melbourne to see the Frida Khalo exhibition. Well worth the trip. The exhibition was extensive and very well curated. Plenty of other things to see and do in Bendigo, if you have the time. Plenty of art galleries, street art, historical buildings from the Gold Rush era, Chinese cultural heritage, great shops and wonderful cafes.

"The 'Frida Kahlo: In Her Own Image' exhibition at the Bendigo Art Gallery is a profound and meticulously curated experience. The spacious, well-lit gallery provided ample room to truly immerse ourselves in Frida Kahlo's life and art, allowing for a contemplative and personal journey. Each piece felt carefully chosen, showcasing the depth and complexity of her self-expression.
Upon exiting the exhibition, the enticing aroma of Mexican cuisine drew us to the Bendigo Art Gallery Cafe. The thoughtfully themed menu complemented the exhibition perfectly, offering a delicious extension of our cultural experience. I savored the rich, tender pulled beef tostada, a vibrant explosion of flavors and textures. My friend's reconstructed pulled beef taco bowl was equally impressive, a beautifully presented and satisfying dish. The cafe's atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, and the staff were exceptionally warm and attentive, adding to the overall positive impression. A truly memorable visit, seamlessly blending art and culinary delight."

Beautiful regional gallery in gorgeous Bendigo, once the richest town in the world. In my trip there was an exhibition of stunning First Nations artists and a textile exhibition, as well as the lovely permanent collection. I love the building. Lovely space to wander through.

Such a fantastic day out! This gallery continues to curate interesting and comprehensive exhibits. Always contains new and unusual facts about the artist, their life and personality. Always has little details such as lace around reception desk and a blue exterior with hummingbirds. Always has a clear intention for each space and enough room for everyone to see. Awe-inspiring!!!

I had a really fun time there. The gallery is a bit small but it has lots of nice paintings for you to enjoy. Perfect for a 30-60 minutes visit. And there is also a nice little coffee at the back.

I went there few months back, entry is free and it was a pretty place with a wide variety of collection showing different themes. The gallery also had a small gift shop. There was an adjoining cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Washrooms were clean and overall its a nice place to visit.
