I'm so disappointed with this agent. I rented my last home from them for 7 years, and the home before that for 3 years. I was a very good tenant, never late on rent, took great care of my home, bond always returned in full, and fantastic feedback from the agent.
When I had to move from my home due to it being sold, I was told not to worry, and that they would support me in acquiring another rental property. I have been applying for homes for an entire year now and they are not helpful at all. They refuse to submit my applications to the homeowners due to "low income" (the same income as previously when I was renting)
My kids and I have been without an adequate home the entire year and the agent are very much not sympathetic. We have been living vicariously - couch surfing, from our van, house-sitting, hotels and renting small, temporary spaces.
Single mums don't stand a chance in this rental crisis when the agents have that attitude. They've not been helpful or sympathetic.
This has impacted my kids terribly, and it breaks my heart to see their struggles. We just want a humble family home where we can live comfortably and settle, and we're great tenants.
As a single mother of many years, I am very well practiced at managing my budget, and always prioritise rent and bills.
As it stands I am paying around the same as the houses I am applying for on a small single room flat without adequate cooking facilities/ bathroom, as well as storage for our possessions, yet I manage to save money on top of this.
My daughter recently spent her birthday in tears because all she wanted was a home. I feel unsure whether I will ever be able to give her that within our beloved community.
I have now begun offering 6 months advance rent on my applications, but I won't be holding my breath.
The agent has a rule they adhere to that rent must be below 30% of the household income. It was well beyond that on our last long term rental property and we did not struggle financially.
This is discrimination.

Please, if we submit an application in the future, we'd really appreciate you to pass it on to the homeowners and let them decide.
We would so love a home soon!!
