Have had a few things made up by Echuca Printers and have nothing but good things to say about them. They have always delivered a great quality product that is backed up with great customer service and communication.

I hate writing bad reviews, especially for a small family business. These guys were recommended by a friend and by all accounts plenty of people have had overwhelmingly positive experiences. I did not. I'm sharing my experience not because I want to discourage potential clients, but so others can possibly get a better outcome than I did.

Here's a timeline of events:
-22nd July, I emailed asking about printing my wedding invitations. They replied the next day asking for specifics which I sent on the 26th. No reply.
-11th August, I sent a follow-up email. No reply.
-19th August, I called them and got through right away. They were very friendly. We got off the phone and I had a quote later that same day. Great!
-23rd August, I replied confirming our choices after talking things out with my partner. They responded the same day with the document specs they needed. Also great!
-3rd Sept, I sent through the document. No reply.
-16th September, I bit the bullet and called. They said they'd get it all printed tomorrow and in the post. I waited two weeks. I wanted to give them plenty of leeway because rural post can sometimes take a while and because I didn't want to be a bother.
- 1st October, I called them to let them know I hadn't received anything. They again said they'd get it done tomorrow. I said to cancel the order.

The RSVPs for the wedding are due at the end of October, and some people are flying international to get to our wedding, so it was important to get the invitations out on time so people could book their flights and organise accommodation, house sitting, pet sitting, etc.

It's too late to have my wedding invitations properly printed so instead I'm just sending out emails to all my guests. It's disheartening.

To their credit, when I explained why I was upset they didn't try to make any excuses or downplay the impact. I respect that they were able to admit they'd dropped the ball because it was a smaller job that took a lot of time. I did point out that if they lacked the capacity for such a job they could simply have turned it down. They could also have given me a longer timeframe, or even upped the price to compensate for the work. I am always happy (and expect) to pay more to support small businesses.

I went to them because of word of mouth, but unfortunately their glowing reputation didn't hold up for me.

Bottom line, if they say they'll do it 'tomorrow', don't wait a week to be polite, call them the next day to make sure it's done. Perhaps if I had, I would be sending my guests something better than an email.
