Dan and the team at First Move Digital have our complete trust after redesigning our website and re configuring our digital marketing. Our previous providers took full advantage of our lack of knowledge in the digital world, taking thousands of dollars and delivering very poor results.
FMD came highly recommended from a friend but we were still very gun shy and afraid that our limited budget would yet again be wasted. Dan and the team quickly instilled a very positive rapport and delivered outstanding results to the time frames they promised and within the budget set.
The most important thing Dan has given us is an education by thoroughly explaining the processes and keeping us informed on every step. He now has our complete trust and loyalty because nothing is too much trouble, even for a 'techtard' like me! Every email is answered, even on Sundays! every phone call is answered and every query is checked.

I had an unbelievably bad experience with this mob.

I understand that it can take time for a google shopping ads campaign to take off and show results. I did not expect results straight away. I also did not expect my current sales to halve in the 3 weeks I was with them before I pulled the plug. I was not told that my current sales would not be affected by a new ads campaign.

It also took them 2 weeks to get my google shopping ads up and running, something that I did myself within 2 days. They claimed that I did not tell them I had current shopping ads running which does not make sense as the initial conversation I had with them centred around my current shopping ads campaign at the time and how to improve results. Surely, as digital media 'experts' one of the first things that would be confirmed with a new client is if they have any current campaigns running. Trying to put the blame on the client is extremely unprofessional.

They also created a facebook 'video' for me which was a slideshow consisting of 3 photos of my products. I could have whipped that up myself in under 10 minutes. They also spelled one of my products incorrectly in the 'video'.

While attempting to recover some of the money they took off me for the week that I had paid for upfront but had cancelled their services, I was informed by the owner Dan that I have very little understanding of digital platforms and how they work. Nice.

I have a fair idea how ad campaigns work and I have now signed up to a local company in Preston who seem to be a lot more on the ball, are listening to my ideas and are extremely knowledgeable. (Message me if you would like their details)

One thing that should have set off alarm bells for me at the beginning is their lack of google reviews - only 3 reviews for a digital marketing company?

Again, I want to stress that this is not a bad review because I did not get a magic sudden rise in sales. This review is because the team did not listen to me when I advised I had a shopping ads account already set up, when I explained many times that I wanted to focus on Google ads and not Facebook and when I explained how urgent it was to get their new campaign set up as I had paused my own while they did this. It is also because when I voiced concerns over my plummeting sales, I was told it was probably due to the ‘state of the economy?!’. Ridiculous. Especially as I have an online business and online sales generally had increased due to stay at home restrictions in Melbourne.

The last email from the owner Dan blamed me for apparently wasting everyone’s time and money for not telling them I had a google ads shopping account already (which I had repeatedly discussed with them) and also that he would return the amount owed to me for the last week paid upfront because he could not be ‘bothered’ with me anymore. Not a professional attitude towards dealing with complaints. No apology for the mess they created.

Effectively, I paid over $2000 for 3 weeks of stress, plummeting sales and sleepless nights.

Overall, an expensive lesson to learn but I have gained many valuable lessons for the future and now have a fair idea of what to look for and what questions to ask when looking to hire a digital marketing company.

There are many digital media businesses out there to choose from. Do yourself a favour and choose one that is better than this mob (which should not be too hard).
